Nothing in particular. Just musings.
It's Monday and the start of a new week. Huzzah.
Time marches forward as it's wont to do and I'm mostly through the recent existential crises of a couple weeks ago. There will be another in the coming weeks or months so check your local listings.
A handful of things happening on this side of the screen this week. Most importantly, the Broadcast Palace is getting close to being worthy of occupancy. That's exciting and I'm excited. It'll be nice to get out of the basement which saw water for the first time since we've moved in. 6 inches in a month is a bit much. (That's NOT what she said) Something like 21 or so just this summer so it was bound to happen. Doesn't make it easier to clean up and I'm guessing we'll have a mold problem soon enough.
With the Palace being functional, I'll be moving an array of crap from one space to another but with the intention of actually displaying or using said crap. There are a few reasons why I'm broke and always have been and one of them is that array of crap. (Side note: "Array of Crap" is an excellent band name.) Just a bunch of small shit that I've purchased over the years that really serve no purpose other than just being stuff. I have no need for any of it, but there it is.
Man, Carlin was great.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to moving the array of crap to it's new home and hopefully some of it will be displayable. Sure, I'll be the only one viewing said displays, but it's my crap and I want to look at it.
I hope to make a functional office space out of it as well to enable a bit of quiet while I "work" or while I record the pod. Yeah...the pod.
Not as important, I'm also having a small Come To Jesus moment with regards to the pod as I'm trying to decide if I should even keep it up or perhaps pivot to a more focused niche. I'm entirely nicheless which in the pod game is the kiss of death. I'd really like to find a reasonable number of listeners who just like podcasts with no real focus. I see nothing wrong with being a generalist. Or at least that's what I tell myself as an excuse to avoid focus.
At any rate, we'll see how that goes. I may just continue to put out shit to along with the occasional interview and that somehow it builds a bit of traction. Keep grinding with it, I guess.
West Ham sits 2nd in the table after 3 games. We just signed an outstanding centre back in Kurt Zouma from Chelsea and an attacking midfielder, Nikola Vlašić out CSKA Moscow. It's a good day to be a Hammer and there's plenty of room on the bandwagon. Europa League starts next week. Let's fucking go.
Last week marked the 30 year anniversary of Pearl Jam's "Ten" and it caused a brief pause to contemplate how prevalent the album and the band as a whole has been in my life since. Seen the band, I think, 28 times since, loved every show and I've loved everything they've stood for collectively over that time. It's nice that those you've spent an inordinate amount of time with have similar morals and values. At any rate, I've listened to the album through about a dozen times this week and it brings back great memories.
